Assembly / Vinyl Pressing

Assembly records pressing vinyl

With our semi-automatic Newbilt machine, we press 140g (heavy vinyl) 12 inch records. Black, in color and splatter.

Probably not in the near future, but we are already thinking about offering other formats at some point. When we are ready, you will of course find out straight away!

We would be happy to offer to be there in person, for example, for your test pressing. Of course, you can and are welcome to visit us at another time. Just get in touch with us. We look forward to seeing you.

First of all, we obviously need the main raw material: vinyl. This is available in different colors and is stored as granules.

We first bake a cake out of this granulate. This is the lump into which the granulate is first melted at over 200° Celsius.

This cake is then placed between the stampers in the pressing machine together with the labels. Label – cake – label.

The cake is now pressed into shape with a pressure of over 100 tons. The machine is cooled with distilled water so that everything cools down more quickly and can be removed from the mold more quickly.

Once the record has completely cooled down, the excess vinyl is cut off. These leftovers can be reused, as records are basically recyclable.

Up to 1000 pressings are possible per stamper. Over time, the signs of wear become too great and the audio quality of the record can no longer be guaranteed.
