LP Cover / LP Sleeve

Cover

The cover is a cardboard sleeve, usually printed, for packaging the record.

A slip-in sleeve that is closed on three sides with internal adhesive folds, thus providing an opening for the record to be inserted.

In addition to this common design, there are also folding covers, so-called gatefolds.

In terms of size, these "tubes" are basically two times a simple cover and are folded in the middle. They offer more surface area for printing and can be designed to hold one to four LPs.

On the one hand, covers have an aesthetic aspect, as these covers offer space for artistic expression and are therefore a visual added value and also have a certain advertising effect.

In most cases, the title page serves to identify the album. The name of the artist and the album can be found there.

Further information, e.g. details about the recordings, cast, song titles, etc. can be found on the back.
